The Leonid Utesov Monument

Not a single city in Ukraine can boast of such an abundance of monuments, memorial plaques, and other «street furniture» per capita as can Odessa. While the best way to see these is to aimlessly wonder around the city, a few are of greater fame and importance and thus are worth pointing out. First one is a monument of Leonid Utesov, a famous Odessa jazz singer and songwriter. Eternally he sits on a bench located directly next to City Garden on Deribasovskaya Street and many tourists can sit down to give a rest to their weary feet and to take a picture together.

The short inscription in front of this sculpture states: To Leonid Utesov — from grateful Odessa.

In front of the Utesov Monument is a gray telephone booth with two speakers sitting on top. The telephone will play a person's choice of Utesov's songs.
